Sources and calculation method
The City of Boston Planning Department Research Division models population as of January 1, 2025 and applies demographic composition from ACS 2019–2023. These are the City’s alternative estimates, not official ACS 2020–2024 estimates. BrytaLocals uses the polygons and values together from the same published layer, without transferring them to differently defined Boston planning neighborhoods. Fractional modeled counts are preserved, including small differences between the publisher’s category sums and population totals (at most 0.564 of a person in this release); the categories are not rescaled to force a match; displayed counts are rounded for readability. Age bands combine published male/female cells before dividing by total modeled population. Housing tenure divides published owner/renter modeled occupied-unit counts by their corresponding housing total. The source does not provide uncertainty intervals, which remain unavailable.
