EVIDENCE YOU CAN CHECK

Data periods and source freshness

A figure describes its source period. Downloading it today does not turn it into a current measurement.

News and statistics run on separate schedules. News is checked twice daily and served from our database. Newsletters arrive weekly or monthly, according to your choice. There are no scheduled daily newsletters.

Weekly

Check connected release directories for new Census editions and school data.

Every 30 days

Check school results, directories, reported-crime files and local boundaries for corrections.

Every 90 days

Recheck fixed Census statistics, national geography files and the public-library survey.

When a source changes

Archive the source, review its definitions and validate the import before publishing. Most statistical editions represent an annual release; their period remains visible.

“Source checked” means the monitor successfully checked the known source. It does not certify that every newer release has already been integrated. Coverage and source periods remain attached to the facts.
