USGS description & history
The former name, Black Swamp, was taken from the large number of Black Oak trees growing in the area at the time. The former name, Goresville, was in use from the late 1700's until the mid-1800's, and was taken from the name of landowner Thomas Gore. The name was changed to Lucketts in 1865.
