Located on U S Route 89, just W of the boundary of the Glen Canyon NRA, 22.5 km (14 mi) NW of Glen Canyon Dam, 77 km (48 mi)E of Kanab.
Incorporated as Big Water on 7/1/1984; named by Alex Joseph, the community's first mayor.
