In Gilmore Township, 7.5 mi. SW of Clare
Named for the Woods family who operated Woods General Store 1872-1956, notably Jesse H. Wood (1838-1934), who settled in Gilmore after the Civil War and was first postmaster 1891-1906, and his son James E. Wood.
