USGS description & history
On E coast of Cuttyhunk Island 1.7 mi SW of Knox Point, Nashawena Island; Town of Gosnold.
Indian word meaning "cleared land" or "plantation" (MGB 1932); or "a thing that lies out in the water" (Douglas-Lithgow 1909).
