USGS description & history
Incorporated April 1, 2004. Located on the north shore of Icy Passage at the mouth of Salmon River, 7 miles northeast of Point Gustavus and 48 miles northwest of Juneau, in the Saint Elias Mountains.
Local name reported in 1940 by U.S. Forest Service (USFS); derived from nearby Point Gustavus.
